Who We Help
Border Crossers
People in the United States who are thinking about seeking refugee protection at the Canada–US border.
Advocates
Settlement workers, lawyers, and others who support border crossers and have questions about how the law at the border applies.

How We Help
Canada’s border laws can be difficult to understand. We provide free legal information, advice, and training about seeking refugee protection at the Canada–US border. In some exceptional cases, we may also provide brief legal services or representation.
We focus on people who may qualify for an exception to the Safe Third Country Agreement because we are a small team. We help people before they go to the border and can also provide advice to people who have been turned back after trying to make a refugee claim.
We do not go to the border in person and do not provide urgent services.

Canada-US Cross Border Network
Our clinic is a member and supporter of the Canada-US Cross Border Network. This group is an informal network of organizations and individuals in Canada and the United States who support people seeking protection on both sides of the border. The network meets regularly to share information and to foster collaborations amongst network members.
